The Story
Khingz is an artist who handcrafts experience and emotions into hip hop music, through a world view sculpted by Seattle's Soufend locals and the global communities that helped shape them.
Though his music origins are in gangster rap, he found a deeper expression of himself through the live hip hop band Anonymous, which formed at Garfield High School. That collective and its successor Maroon Colony created a fertile ground for growth and experimentation that changed his trajectory forever. Fostered by Seattle heavyweights Jonathan "Wordsayer" Moore and Derrick "Vitamin D" Brown, among others, he learned to create music from a place of profound respect and joy.
This ethos has only grown with projects like Abyssinian Creole, Hi Life Soundsystem and his solo work with Soufend/Wesside collective OTOW.
Currently leading the charge for a new Seattle sonic golden age with the energy of super crew People Need Water, his latest offering "Khalilmatic" is a deep dive into his history, outlook, and drive for the future, all over production from the incomparable Sir Thomas Gray.
