Though the trio had been meeting and making music virtually for over two years, the truth was, they'd never been in the same place at the same time. In fact, Maarius81 and Nironic had never actually met in person!

That all changed in 2023, when Nironic set out by aeroplane for the Pacific Northwest. Over a chilly weekend in January, the three men carved out a slab of collective creative content in the form of nine varied and formidable new songs.

Though the group has never been on a plane together, they all enjoy flying and traveling with the requisite and appropriate regret for any negative impacts of such a means of transit. They reunited at Umbrella Fest 2025 and they have expansive plans for entirely new creations.

In the meantime, though, look out for several of their releases becoming available soon!

The Story
Frequent Flyer Society formed during COVID, when the world had shut down and nobody was going anywhere — which made the name feel exactly right for three people who all love to fly and travel. Maarius81, Rob Banks, and Nironic spent two years on weekly video calls together, making music remotely, gradually figuring out what the three of them sounded like — all while Maarius and Nironic had never been in the same room, having somehow never crossed paths in person despite years of shared circles and mutual collaborators. In January 2023, Nironic flew into SeaTac and drove straight to Camano Island with Rob, where the three of them spent a weekend together for the first time. They made eight original songs. Three are out now — Crystal Cobwebs, The Ballad of Bruce the Frog, and Slow Faucet — and the rest are on their way.
