The Story
Maarius81 and Rob Banks have been making music together since 1999, across cities, lineups, and projects — but in 2012 they named what had always been true: that the two of them alone make something distinct. Sword of a Giant is that thing, and the name sounds, spoken aloud, almost indistinguishable from Sort of a Giant, which is not lost on them. The music carries philosophical and spiritual weight, built without much interest in what's fashionable. Their second album, Act of Sight, was made over a single weekend in Ballard in 2023 — ten songs that arrived quickly and held together completely, which is sometimes how the best ones go.
